Eating to build a better body – YES EATING!

Eatright

Many of you may know and others may not, but I have suffered for years with an eating disorder.  When my eating disorder was at its worst, all I thought about, from the moment I awoke in the morning to when I fell asleep at night, was food, the scale, how many calories I put in my mouth and how many calories I could burn at the gym; this is no exaggeration. Every thought, every day revolved around food or negative self-talk.

Ultimately this drove me to limiting my meals and food intake, drinking my calories, restricting myself to a point of insanity.

Then came my “ah ha” moment; another post in itself that I am sure I will share in the future.

Not everyone’s story for restricting calories or not eating enough, often enough is as crazy as mine but one thing I do know is that eating to much or not eating often enough is one of the most common mistakes and misconceptions.

I am still learning what my body needs everyday, but here are the top 4 rules I live by to keep my sanity and fuel my better body!

  • 5 Small Meals daily; no if’s an’s or but’s
  • EAT Clean/ Understand Portions NO CALORIE COUNTING
  • Make Healthy Options Convenient so PREP PREP PREP The most common reason given for not eating often enough is lack of convenience.  The most common reason people make BAD choices is convenience
  • WATER, WATER and more WATER – It’s easy to mistake Boredom, or Habit for actual Hunger. Drink a glass of water when you think your hungry and wait 30 minutes. Plus HYDRATION is important….
